Semantics

Article Review about Semantics ,
( A Problem for Semantic Definition of Analyticity )

Hello guys, welcome back in my blog…
Today, this article talks about Semantics. You know, on my old article, I have posted about semantics also. But now, this is kinda different. I would like to make an article review ( as you look at my headline J )

Well, no need making long small talk J today, I am going to review an article that I have found from academia.edu
Why I choose semantic for my written at this moment? Yas… as a English Department student, semantics is not a new thing. Beside, this semester I have been taking Semantics Course, so I think, to explore my knowledge, I need to make an article review (but actually, this is also a task from my lecturer, ooopss :D )
So, let’s move to the article…

1.      Profile

·       This article entitles A Problem for Semantic Definition of Analyticity. It was posted by Christian J. Feldbacher, from Philosophy of Science Department, Salzburg. It was addressed for 14th International Congress of Logic, Methodology and Philosophy of Science, Nancy on July 20. 2011. The author posted on academia.edu through his own account.

·       This article consists of 14 pages. In page 2, you will find “Introduction” that consists of “thesis” and “plan”.  In page 3, it is included in core discussion. The author arranged it to be “theory”, “classical point of view”, “point of view”, “problem”, then “summary”.

1.      Superiority

·       I really recommend this article as a reading source. The author wrote it systematically and structurally. As I mention above, he elaborates from Theory, classical point of view, point of view, problem then summary. it is easier for readers to find and understand what materials that author would like to explain.

 ·       Beside arrangement of writing, I’d like to say that this article generally has simple sentences. I mean, he uses simple vocabulary. It is also helpful for readers who are not master in English (non native speaker who are learning EFL).

1.      Weakness

·       Even though this article is good for readers, but in my opinion, the writer needs to explain what is Quine’s critique. Because, for readers who do not know it, they will be confused.

And then, after “problem” discussion, the writer should give solution of the problem. So, it does not end seem like not finish.

1.      Conclusion

But reader, I really recommend to read this article look at the content side. He explained the content well.

See you next post… J
